To accomplish our
mission, ICP carries out the following
functions:
(1) Incubates innovative ideas and scaleable
models for scaling up
national youth service and service learning.
ICP brings together resources and
partners to launch new policy and programming
initiatives with potential for
large-scale impact, in partnership with NGOs,
governments and the private
sector.
(2) Creates and expands global
networks of individuals and
organizations committed to developing youth
civic participation. ICP serves as
a secretariat to the leading network in global
service-learning in higher
education, the Talloires Network, and to the
only global national youth service
organization, the International Association of
National Youth Service (IANYS).
(3)
Consults with governments,
international organizations, and
other clients on designing national
youth engagement policies and programs,
trainings and evaluation programs. ICP
facilitates change by supporting
visionary social entrepreneurs who are
thinking big about national youth
service: individuals who are leading debates
on national youth service in their
countries, affecting policy, and building
world-class organizations.
(4) Conducts research and publicizes
information on youth civic
engagement, especially national youth service
and service-learning. ICP works
with national and international
agencies to increase the
global understanding
of quality components of youth civic
participation. ICP emphasizes information
on quality practices and policy frameworks in
order to enable greater impact
and effectiveness.
(5)
Serves as a financial
intermediary to support the development
of innovative
youth service programs and to promote the
development of national youth service
policies. For example, ICP makes periodic
small grants and awards to
redistribute funds for donors interested in
investing in youth service programs
and policy development.
