Comprehensive Toolkits to Guide your Impact Evaluation
The Institute for Volunteering Research provides the Volunteering Impact Assessment Toolkit to help organizations and groups measure and assess the impacts of volunteering. It is designed to be simple and adaptable so that organizations can use it in ways that are most useful to them. It provides tried and tested tools which organizations can use and adapt including surveys, focus group topic guides and volunteer diaries. Also included is step by step guidance on how to undertake a volunteering impact assessment. Available for purchase.
The World Bank, Poverty Net Impact Evaluation Resource Center.
A comprehensive resource center which includes information on all aspects of impact evaluation including: Methods and Techniques, Evaluation Designs, Estimation Methods, Implementation Issues, and Data and Tools. A section on Training Events and Materials includes materials from many different training events that the World Bank has hosted on Impact evaluation, including Assessing Programs and Policies Using Impact Evaluation and PSIA and Making Smart Policy: Using Impact Evaluation for Policy Making. A Related Links section contains an annotated list of relevant international organizations, research institutes and centers, capacity building and data usage resources, participatory evaluation resources, evaluation associations, general sites for additional evaluation links and impact evaluation news
Outcome Measurement in Nonprofit Organizations: Current Practices and Recommendations
A 2001 report by Elaine Moreley, et al., Independent Sector and the Urban Institute. This report discusses outcome measurement and reporting procedures used by a variety of nonprofits and provides recommendations for strengthening the validity and usefulness of such practices. Includes practical examples that nonprofits can adapt to their own needs. The primary audience is managers and leaders of local nonprofits.
United Nations Toolkit for young people to evaluate national youth policy
This participatory evaluation toolkit is meant for national youth organizations and/or representatives working with youth to get youth involved in the evaluation process. It can be used as a tool to assess your country's progress in reaching the goals of the Wold Programme of Action for Youth to the Year 2000 and Beyond (WPAY); to prioritize your organization's work, based on your findings; and to initiate actions at the national level.
